Firearms Instruction

Although I have been informally teaching people to shoot for several years I hadn't had the opportunity to obtain NRA certification until March of '98. In addition to the NRA instructor class I have taken General Defensive Handgun, Intensive Handgun Skills, Handgun Retention and Disarming, Defensive Rifle, and Low-Light Handgun Skills from Insights Training Center in the Seattle area. I am also a frequent competitor in handgun events in the northern Idaho and Seattle areas. According to the United States Practical Shooters Association (politically correct name for 'combat shooting') I am in the top 40 shooters in Idaho for limited class (iron sights, no compensators).  On July 31, 1998, my teammate Even (from Norway) and I won the Intermountain Tactical Rifle Championship held near Whitebird Idaho. I am currently certified to teach Basic Pistol, Personal Protection, and Home Firearm Safety. I teach in the Moscow, Idaho area and schedule classes for small groups (10 maximum). In certain cases I can also be available for a private lessons as well.

All classroom work will be done in Moscow Idaho, and range work will be done at the Bernie Peterson Memorial Range range about 15 miles east of Moscow.  Visit the Lewiston Pistol Club website for details on becoming a member--although that is not a requirement for instruction.

Also, related to this is my collection of self-defense quotes. See Self-Defense and Firearms.

And for people planning to travel on commercial airlines with firearms see Commercial Air Travel With Firearms.
